Westway Project identifies neglected public spaces and improvements are organised in response to community needs. Environmental design in tune with local culture can uplift the mood of an area, increase its popularity and alleviate vandalism, alienation and crime.

In 2000 Westway Project initiated and implemented a programme to upgrade the appearance of inner-city flyover structures, underground and railway bridges. The bridges are gateways into London and are prominent features of the urban landscape.
